ANSWERS TO COMMON QUESTIONS
How long must we wait?
The average wait for an infant adoption at Colorado Christian Services is 18 months. In our Traditional Infant Adoption Program, we will assist you in actively marketing yourselves as adoptive parents. We will teach you how to use a profile and other promotional tools in order to come into contact with prospective birth mothers. This tends to decrease the time you spend waiting to be chosen as adoptive parents.
How much will it cost to adopt and when are the fees due?
Adoption fees are the responsibility of the adopting family. There are a number of different types of adoption and each has a unique fee schedule according to the services provided. We are happy to provide you with the fee schedule for the type of adoption you are pursuing.
What does openness in adoption look like?
The level of openness is unique to each adoptive placement. Most of our birth mothers desire an open adoption which typically means meeting the family before the birth and continuing direct contact thereafter. At Colorado Christian Services, we value openness in adoption, but occasionally birth mothers request a semi-open or closed adoption.
Do we need to hire an attorney in order to complete the adoption process?
It’s not necessary for you to hire your own attorney — but you can if you would prefer. At Colorado Christian Services, we work with an attorney to ensure that your adoption meets all state legal requirements. We are represented by Colorado’s leading family law firm — Grob & Eirich, LLC.
