An unplanned pregnancy is just that – unplanned. Dealing with the details can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to do it alone.

Colorado Christian Services has experienced, licensed caseworkers who are ready to offer you the support you need to make the best plan for you and your child. We’ve created a 5-step process and will guide you each step of the way.

Meet with a caseworker. One of our highly trained caseworkers will meet with you to talk about your options. We can meet with you in person, on the phone, through text, or whatever is most comfortable for you. We’ll also come to you if needed. Our goal is to help you feel as comfortable as possible, and we’ve even set up protocols to follow social distancing guidelines. We can help even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Create an adoption plan. Your caseworker will guide you through every step of the adoption process, and our agency will handle all the legal aspects at no cost to you. We use our 55 + years of experience for your benefit. You can take care of yourself and your child, knowing you have experts working on your behalf.

Choose a family. CCS has many carefully screened, loving couples ready to add to their families through adoption. You get to consider each one and choose the best match for you and your child.

Plan for delivery. Your personal caseworker will work with you to make detailed decisions about the delivery and time in the hospital. As your advocate, your caseworker will support you and make sure your needs are met and your voice is heard during delivery.

Support after delivery. Once you’ve delivered your child, you will still need support. Your Colorado Christian Services caseworker will continue to counsel and support you as long as needed.

Updates for birth family

Do you share information updates with your child’s birth family? Have you considered allowing your child to be a part of that process?

We encourage you to allow your child to participate in sending updates to their birth family. Our birth parent clients tell us that the most prized updates they receive are those written or made directly from their child.

Try including some of your child’s schoolwork, artwork and a handwritten letter from them in the next update you send. It will be cherished by their birth family.

What is the difference between open adoption, semi-open adoption, and closed adoption?

The more informed you are about adoption, the more confident you will feel in your specific, personalized adoption plan. While there are many aspects to consider, one of the most basic is how much interaction and communication you will have with the child once he or she is placed with an adoptive family.

Open adoption allows you the most interaction. You will have ongoing visits with the child and will be able to build relationships with both the child and the adoptive family.
Less open, or semi-open, adoption provides information with less direct interaction. This type of agreement allows you to stay informed about the child’s life through pictures, letters, and phone calls.
Closed adoption is another option. This type of agreement means you will not have any direct contact after the child is placed with an adoptive family.

Each adoption is unique, and you get to choose a plan that works best for all involved. If I give my baby up for adoption, how do I know who will adopt my child?

Even if you are not able to parent your child, you do not give up all choices regarding this precious one.

Instead, we will work with you to create an adoption plan that best suits both you and the child. You can choose an open adoption that allows you to maintain a relationship with your child and the adoptive family. You also get to choose from many loving, carefully assessed adoptive families. CCS uses the Structured Analysis Family Evaluation (SAFE) to evaluate all adoptive families, so you can rest assured your child will be going to caring parents who have been thoroughly screened. When an unplanned pregnancy occurs, you may feel confused and overwhelmed. The good news is you do not have to go through this pregnancy alone. Colorado Christian Services is here to help.

When you contact CCS about choosing adoption, an experienced, supportive caseworker will walk you through the process, including the creation of an adoption plan.

An adoption plan is a detailed plan you craft to meet your specific adoption needs. It will include:

✅ The type of family you hope to find for your child:

Do you want a large family with other adopted children? Do you want your child to be the first child in the family? Would you like your child to live in the city or the country? You can be as specific as you want to be in your adoption plan.

✅ The amount and type of contact you would like to have after adoption:

Would you like to have the family send pictures and letters on a regular basis? Do you want to have an ongoing in-person relationship with the child and family? Your caseworker will discuss options and help you choose what makes you most comfortable.

✅ Details of the delivery and time in the hospital:

Although you may not have considered the delivery and hospital stay, this is an important part of your plan. Do you want specific family members or friends with you? Do you want the adoptive family in the delivery room? Would you like time alone with your baby? Your caseworker will help you navigate every detail and make sure your wishes are honored.
